| DEPUTY RODNEY ALLEN NORBERG Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Died August 13, 1971 Deputy Rodney Norberg and pilot Samuel R. Sims, 34, St. Louis Park, died in a helicopter crash Friday night, August 13th, in northern Hennepin County. They had eaten dinner at Dehn's Country Manor on Highway 121 a mile from the crash site, and had left the restaurant after being dispatched to a report of a loud party by Lake Minnetonka. The last anyone heard from them was at 10:29 p.m., when they reported they were on their way. When the officers failed to appear at the party, other officers searched for places where the helicopter might have landed, but found nothing. They then sent up a second helicopter at daybreak. At 5:20 a.m., they located the crash site in a cornfield northwest of Highway 152 and Territorial Road in Maple Grove. Sims was the vice president of Imperial Airways Inc., who leased the helicopter to the sheriff's office. Deputy Norberg was 28 years old. He was survived by his parents. His funeral was held at The Crystal Evangelical Free Church in Crystal on Wednesday, August 18th, and he was buried in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
