| OFFICER JAMES W. FINN St. Paul PD Died June 3, 1902 Officer James Finn, a mounted patrolman at the Prior Avenue substation, was returning to his station about 6:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Lynhurst and University Avenues when his horse stumbled and fell. Finn struck his head on the curb and the horse rolled over onto him while it was trying to get back up. Finn never regained consciousness and died at 1:30 p.m. at Cobb Infirmary from a concussion. Officer Finn had started with the department April 30, 1884, as a mounted officer on Central Duty. He later moved to the Prior Avenue substation. He was survived by his wife and nine children.
