LEMA becomes most visible at the time of a line of duty death. We assist the grieving family and agency by providing planning and organization for the funeral service. LEMA also provides a special reading of the "Police Officer's Memorial Prayer", a casket flag, Rifle Squad, Casket Team, Colors Details and other Honor Guard services. LEMA also arranges for bagpipe band and provides the family with a special display case that pays tribute to the loved one's ultimate sacrifice.

LEMA also provides:

• Grief Counseling program and financial aid program to meet the immediate needs of surviving families
• A scholarship program for surviving family members
• Standing of the Guard at the State Police Officers Monument on May 15th, National Law Enforcement Memorial Day.
• Candlelight Vigil and Celebration Service on May 15th celebrating the lives and surviving families of our fallen heroes.
• Ecumenical Memorial Service held at a host agency location the first Sunday in May.
• Model policies and training for all agencies in handling of line of duty deaths.
• Survivor events including providing training on dealing with officer death as well as fun events like the Holidazzle Parade, Minnesota Twins game and more.
• Wills for Heroes
